The College of Mechanical Engineering and Applied Electronics Technology of Beijing University of Technology (hereinafter called Electromechanical College) was founded in March 1998 and it mainly consists of 3 first level disciplines, including Mechanical engineering, Mechanics, and Instrument Science and Technology. Currently, Electromechanical College has 5 departments, including the Department of Machinery Manufacturing and Automation, Department of Mechanical Electronics Engineering, Department of Mechanical Design and Theory, Department of Mechanics, Instrument Science and Technology, together with Teaching Research Center and 3 national or ministerial level research centers and a key laboratory, including National Precision and Ultra-precision Processing Engineering Research Center, Technology of Advanced Vehicle Structural Parts Manufacturing Engineering Research Center of Ministry of Education and Key Laboratory of Advanced Manufacturing Technology of Beijing. Besides, Electromechanical College possesses 4 research institutions, including Research and Development Center of Welding Equipment of Beijing, Institute of Electromechanical Technology of the university, Numerical Simulation center of Engineering and Integrality Assessment Center of Pipeline. It has 2 wide-scope undergraduate programs–Machinery Manufacturing and Automation, Measurement and Control Technique and Equipment, 1 Master Degree authorized unit of first level discipline–Instrument Science and Technology, 1 Master Degree authorized unit of second level discipline–Solid Mechanics, 1 Doctoral Degree authorized unit of first level discipline–Mechanical engineering, 2 Doctoral Degree authorized units of second level disciplines–Hydrodynamics and Engineering Mechanics, and 2 postdoctoral research centers for the disciplines of Mechanical engineering and Mechanics. It also has 2 Beijing Key disciplines–Mechanical Design and Theory, Machinery Manufacturing and Automation, 2 disciplines receiving privileged support from Beijing Municipal–Mechanical Electronics Engineering and Engineering Mechanics, together with 1 key construction first level discipline–Instrument Science and Technology.

In 2009, there are 153 faculty members in Electromechanical College, including 104 professional teachers, among whom 15 are supervisors for PhD candidates, 29 are Professors, 48 are Associate Professors or Senior Engineers. 70 faculties have a PhD degree.

This year, 319 students will graduate from Electromechanical College, including 147 graduates among whom 14 are PhD students and 133 are master students, and 172 undergraduates. There are 333 new students, including 182 graduates among whom 19 are PhD students and 163 are master students, and 151 undergraduates. 1090 enrolled students are studying in Electromechanical College, including 463 graduates (61 PhD students and 402 master students) and 627 undergraduates.
